The Lapland Longspur has the widest overall range of all the members of the longspur family in North America. They nest right on the far arctic islands in the north and to the western end of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. They arrive to their breeding grounds in the late spring and the early summer months. In mid-fall the lonspurs migrate into southern Canada and the northern US states for the winter months. It has been reported as a rare visitor to Cuba.
