The Bonaparte's Gull is one of the six black-headed gulls seen in North America. This smaller member of the gull family is most often seen around
smaller bodies of water, where it nests in large colonies. It is not unusual to see these gulls far out at sea during the non-breeding season. It has been a migrant in Cuba.
